Minimize load shedding considering the generator control

This study presents a method for determining the minimum amount of the load to be shed for recovery the frequency back to the permitted value. To implement the above idea, the actual operation of the electricity system in the event of a generator outage is considered. The main idea of this method is to use the power balance equation between the generation and the load with different frequency levels. In all cases of operating the electrical system before and after the generator outage, the primary frequency control and the secondary frequency control processes are specifically considered for each generator in the system. This ensures a minimum amount of load shedding to restore the frequency to the allowed values. The proposed method is illustrated by using the IEEE 37-bus system.
